Component parts of the "Rathaus-Glockenspiel" from top to bottom. The gothic style structure was built in 1908 and chimes every day at 11 am.

Top half of the Rathaus-Glockenspiel tells the story of the marriage of Duke Wilhelm V (who also founded the world famous Hofbräuhaus) to Renata of Lorraine. In honor of the happy couple there are jesters and a joust with knights on horseback the Bavarian knight (in white and blue) wins. Bottom half of the Rathaus-Glockenspiel then celebrates the coopers' dance or (Schäfflerstanz), according to myth, the coopers are said to have danced through the streets to, "bring fresh vitality to fearful dispositions" during a plague in 1517.

The entrance and exit to the Rathaus-Glockenspiel is decorated with iron works with stained glass windows inside.

The column of St. Mary erected in 1638 to celebrate the end of the Swedish invasion and is located in teh center of Munich's Marienplatz (St. Mary's Square).
